SAN FRANCISCO CIRCUIT & CLUB DJ

From Beatbox to The EndUp, a foundation in SF's legendary club scene

San Francisco's legendary club circuit provided a formative chapter in Joshua D's career. His earliest documented gigs trace back to 2013 at Beatbox, the warehouse-turned-nightclub in SoMa where DJ Tristan Jaxx founded the Chaos party series. Joshua D appeared at both Chaos and Evolution alongside circuit heavyweights including Hector Fonseca (the New York DJ behind 20 Billboard #1 remixes and pioneer of the "electribal" sound), Tristan Jaxx (named one of Out.com's "Top 10 DJs You Should Know"), and Alex Cohen. From there, he moved to the city's marquee venues—headlining at Oasis, the celebrated drag cabaret space opened by Heklina and D'Arcy Drollinger in 2015, where he shared the bill with Shawn Perry at the RagerTom FORCE party. His performances also extended to Club Six's Underworld Palladium party, where he played alongside Tom Stephan (Superchumbo)—the UK-based DJ with 20 Billboard #1 remixes including work for Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Kylie Minogue.

Joshua D's SF tenure included performances at two of the city's most iconic venues: The EndUp and The Great Northern. The EndUp, a cultural institution since 1973 and birthplace of Hi-NRG music in the 1980s, saw him perform at multiple flagship parties including ShangriLa (the city's premier Asian LGBTQ party running over 15 years), PhoeniX EXT during Up Your Alley weekend, and the EXT After-Hours Dore Edition—all while sharing stages with international talent like Oscar Velazquez, the Mexican house legend with two decades of radio and club experience. At The Great Northern—the converted 1907 railroad warehouse with its 80,000-watt VOID sound system and 30-foot ceilings—he played A Mid-Winter Night's Dream, joining a venue roster that has hosted Peggy Gou, Dixon, Honey Dijon, and Tale Of Us. Perhaps most significantly, Joshua D earned a spot on the main stage at the Up Your Alley Fair in July 2019, performing for the estimated 10,000-15,000 leather and fetish enthusiasts who gather annually on Folsom Street for what has become the "local's Folsom"—a more intimate alternative to the massive Folsom Street Fair that celebrates the city's leather community roots dating back to 1985.
